JULY IS PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH!

JULY
1
– Tell 5 friends to tell 5 friends that it is that it is National Parks & Recreation Month

2 – Sign up for a Parks & Recreation camp or class. Registration is available online or in-person at the Frisco Athletic Center

3 –  Fly a kite – The open space within most of our parks is the perfect spot for this activity.

4Frisco Freedom Fest, City Hall Plaza, 4 p.m.

5 – Go playground jumping - spend 30-minutes at three different parks. 

6 – Take your dog to Ruff Range Dog Park at B.F. Phillips Community Park

7Try out the new Disc Golf Course at B.F. Phillips Community Park. Click here for rules on how to play.

8 – Art in the Park Search – Find the art pieces within our parks.  Download the map to begin your search.

9 – Toss a Frisbee in the park

10 – Test your batting skills in the batting cages at Harold Bacchus Community Park

11 – “Have Fun, Get Wild!” Parks & Recreation staff will be searching for people having fun in our parks and facilities.  If we spot you having fun, we’ll reward you with a t-shirt and a bag of goodies.  So get out and have some fun. We’ll be looking for you!

12 – Be a kid again!  Go roll down the hills at Preston Ridge Park or any other park with a hill!

13Dive-In Movie Night (adult 18+ only) at Frisco Athletic Center Outdoor Aquatic Center featuring the movie ‘Jaws.’ There will be free childcare for children 8 weeks to 12 years available in the Zone and Fun Clun for FAC members. Childcare is available for non-members for $5 per child. Childcare is limited, so make your reservations early by calling 972-292-6600.

14Free Boot Camp class, 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. – Meet by the pond outside the Frisco Athletic Center. Bring weights and a mat if you have them.

15 – Explore one of our 34 parks you have never visited. Find them all here.

16 – Take a walk on the “Wild Side.” Plan a mile walk or bike ride on our 60 miles of Hike and Bike Trails.

17 – Try a new sport or outdoor game.

18 - “Have Fun, Get Wild!” Parks & Recreation staff will be searching for people having fun in our parks and facilities.  If we spot you having fun, we’ll reward you with a t-shirt and a bag of goodies.  So get out and have some fun. We’ll be looking for you!

19 – Never visited Central Park?  Today is a great day to go!  Take your camera and take pictures with the statues or have the kids perform at the amphitheater.

20 – “Wet and Wild day!” Everyone pays kids price admission to the Frisco Athletic Center

21 – Bring paper and a pencil or crayons to Limestone Quarry Park and let the kids trace and draw the different leaves and plants at the educational stations.  Kids can place a piece of paper over a mold at the different stations and then rub a pencil or crayon over it.  They can then take their picture and locate the plant or leaf within the park.

22 – Take a kid fishing. Ponds are stocked with fish at Warren Sports Complex, Frisco Commons, Harold Bacchus Community Park and Beavers Bend Park.

23 – “Get Wild” No TV today!  Tell us what your family did on Facebook.

24 – Have a play date at one of our three spray parks located at Shepherds Glen Park, J.R. Newman Park and Bi Centennial Park (parking is located at Frisco Commons Park)

25 – “Have Fun, Get Wild!” Parks & Recreation staff will be searching for people having fun in our parks and facilities.  If we spot you having fun, we’ll reward you with a t-shirt and a bag of goodies.  So get out and have some fun. We’ll be looking for you!

26 – Jump rope!  What is your high score?

27Family Dive-In Movie Night at the Frisco Athletic Center Outdoor Aquatic Center featuring the movie ‘The Adventures of TinTin.’ 

28 – Free Guided Tree Tour at Frisco Commons Parks, 8000 McKinney Road, 9 a.m. Meet at the large pavilion.

29 – Have a picnic in the park

30 – Commit to 30-minutes of physical activity today

31 – Popsicles in the Park, Frisco Commons Park, 8000 McKinney Road, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Parks and Recreation staff will be giving our free popsicles while supplies last.
